Female Solo Traveling in Hurghada, Egypt

Travelling to Hurghada alone as a female solo traveler seemed daunting to me when I was planning it. I would try to google in online forums and travel websites if there are any warnings against travelling there alone.

I would search if it’s perfectly safe or sane for a young female to be travelling completely alone to Hurghada right now. And honestly, I didn’t get much of an answer, so I asked my Egyptian friends. Most of them recommended Dahab or Hurghada to me.
Dahab seemed like a hipster alternative where lots of solo travels go there to find themselves. I wasn’t too keen on taking a 10 hour bus from Cairo, so I opted for Hurghada instead and didn’t regret it at all, even though it seemed more family friendly. If you’re thinking of relaxing in Hurghada and getting some beach time there, read below for more details.
How I Got to Hurghada
I took a 7-8 hour bus ride booked through GoBus or BlueBus. If you would like something a bit fancier and a higher quality ride, I heard BlueBus is great. But I’ve only tried GoBus and it was fine for me. For a more comfortable ride, book a seat in the front of the bus as it can be quite the roller coaster riding in the back.

Where I Stayed
I stayed at the Arabia Azur resort in Hurghada and it was a great choice. The location was really nice and central. The resort itself had a big beach surface area, and it was nearby Arabella Azur resort which you could access as well. For the ultimate stay, the rooms at Arabella looked much nicer and had a more authentic vibe, but the beach area and Olympic-sized pool at Arabia Azur resort were note-worthy. Overall, both resorts seem like a great choice.

What to Do
Relax. And then swim. Followed by some more relaxation at the resort.
And when you’re tired of relaxing, you can enjoy the all-you-can-eat meals at the resort, or explore the Hurghada town.
On your second and third day, I would ask the resort’s reception to help you book day trips. I highly recommend the Giftun Island day trip, as it included snorkeling as well. I even saw dolphins when we were on board the yacht.

What to Bring
Cash, your swimsuit, a nice book, sunglasses, your sense of adventure, and some sunscreen.
What to Pet
Again, I highly recommend the resort I stayed at as it had some lovely cats you can pet all night if you’d like.

What to Love There
Beautiful turquoise water, white clear sand, and the endlessly blue sky. The Red Sea is absolutely beautiful and it can be visited year round. The resort staff are always full of smiles, there to help you, and treat you like kings and queens during your stay. Don’t miss a chance to visit Hurghada if you can whether you want to travel solo or with your friends and family.
